World War II played an important role in actual creation of a Zionist state, Israel, which, like Iraq, was created arbitrarily by the United Kingdom. Although the Zionists have been calling for the creation of a Jewish state for years, until it came to be a mass exodus of the Jews of Europe. Most Western countries did not want the Jewish immigrants, and the support the establishment of a Jewish state. The creation of Israel, many Palestinians displaced, leading to the problems that continue to this day. World War II also led the race for the atomic bomb and the subsequent Cold War, the U.S. won, catapulting the nation to superpower status. This superpower status played a big part in the nation in the Security Council of the United Nations and its ability to decide when and where there would be no wars, such as Desert Storm. The Carter Doctrine established the United States the "right" to intervene directly in support of their interests, which, in turn, participate destabilizing Iran and maintain a pro-Western government in place. It can also be seen as a precursor of Bush's subsequent declaration of preemptive war. World War II is considered a direct result of the First World War. The cold war is a direct result of the race for the bomb, as a result of the Second World War. The application attempts to control nuclear proliferation, to all nations except the U.S., so naturally as a result of the Second World War. This currently affects East Medium, especially on Iran and Israel. I'm sure there are many other connections, but that's a start.
